District Academic Improvement Plan (2012-2014)

District Academic Improvement Plan (2012-2014)

Education received a large portion of the allocation in the 2012 financial year after we conceptualized and formulated a strategic three-year plan to embark on an Educational Change Management Implementation project. The education system was in dire straits in 2011, with sub-par matriculation results at an overall 51.12 % pass rate. Risk factors such as service delivery protests within the District did not make for easy implementation of the schools' intervention. Despite the commotion affecting schools, the JTGD Trust investment bore fruits in the form of an achieved pass rate of 62.97%. An 11.85 % improvement.

A total of 5 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres were constructed at a total cost of R 9 616 850 million, entrenching our commitment to provide a strong foundation for our children. We further committed to building 5 libraries in 5 identified schools in 2011, which were completed and handed over in 2012.
