The John Taolo Gaetsewe Developmental Trust CEO Mr Tumelo Mpolokeng and Management team, today 14 December 2021, took courtesy visits to Deurward Village, Ditshoswaneng Village and Gasese Village. The visits were a wrap up for year 2021 in assessing the state of on-going projects and to commit to new projects for 2022.
“What we see here is a clear example of leadership from the CEO of the Trust, coming back to communities and giving an update on promises made” Kgosi Mahura said as he wrapped up the meeting. Announcements will be made in due course after consultation meetings have been concluded. The team proceeded to Ditshoswaneng Village to asses progress made as the Trust is currently building a state of the art community centre. The community centre is expected to be completed by mid 2022.
Later in the afternoon, the team proceeded to Gasese Village joined by the District Director of Social Development Mrs Smous and Ward Councillor Gomolemo Tagane, where they visited the Skefel Family. Malebogo Skefel was born as a healthy child and in 2020 got diagnosed of tuberculosis meningitis (TBM), and after the operation she was left paralysed. The family approached the Trust for medical assistance and construction of a new home as their 1 room is too small considering the help Malebogo needs to give her the proper care. In announcing the commitment to the family, the CEO of the Trust shed a tear as he spoke to the family, “This is an emotional journey for Malebogo, at such a young age she’s bed ridden and has to eat through feeding tubes. We are going to build a home for the family and give the necessary medical assistance, this is to ease the pressure from the unemployed mother who is now looking after the 11 year old Child” CEO said.
2021 has been a great show of how economic performance need not be at the expense of environmental, social and societal performance, as these are mutually expansive elements that help to pivot the organization in tough times and steer it to greater heights in more favourable conditions. We are geared up for 2022 to deliver high impact sustainable projects that bring change to beneficiary communities.
‘DRIVING HIGH IMPACT SUSTAINABLE CHANGE’
